Big Lake is a great lake�if you are after big Arctic Char or Dolly�Varden. Rainbow fishing can also be very productive. White, chartreuse and glow 1/2, 1/4, 1/16 & 1/8th oz. tube or ball head jigs, along with gold flutter spoons are working well. This lake�also has�Northern Pike. Big lake is one of the last lakes to freeze up good. Lake reports are around 12" of ice but thin spots are still around so use caution. while on the lake.

Canoe Lake is stocked with Rainbow Trout and Arctic Grayling. Small spoons in shiny colors and small hooks or�jigs tipped with Pautzkes Balls O' Fire work well here and cured shrimp is also a great choice for bait.� Lake reports are around 12" of ice but thin spots are still around so use caution.

Rainbow trout are the target at this lake and range medium to large in size. This is a great fishery for those who want to take the kids out and catch some nice pan fryers or just want to see some action. Cottonwood can be a windy location depending on the weather.�
" For best result at Cottonwood try using bait on a small lead head jig hook or pre-tied bait hooks. Cured shrimp, Power Bait, or salmon eggs work well here. Small spoons and plastic jig skirts have been know to work well at Cottonwood also. Tipping your lures with bait can increase your lures effectiveness. Lake reports are around 12" of ice but thin spots are still around so use caution.

This is a great group of lakes to enjoy a day of fishing.��Irene Lake has a nice population of Rainbows & Arctic Char.���If you're using bait, Pautzke's Balls O' Fire and Nightcrawlers are excellent choices. 8 to 10 inch fish are the norm, but with patience, larger fish can be caught.��Tube jigs�can be effective for large�Char. White, chartreuse and glow 1/2, 1/4, 1/16 & 1/8th oz. tube or ball head jigs, along with gold flutter spoons working well. Check the regulations as each�lake has separate regulations. Matanuska lake has large char but is one of the last lakes to freeze up solid and has many springs in it making for thin spots. The other lakes are around 12" of ice but thin spots can still be around so use caution.

This is a stocked lake and ASF&G started restocking last summer. Fish up to 18" are being caught but fishing for larger trout will have to wait for a little while for the stockers to grow. White, chartreuse or glow 1/4, 1/16 & 1/8th oz. tube or ball head jigs, along with gold flutter spoons are working well. Loberg Lake is stocked with Rainbow Trout and is easily accessed from the Parks Highway. This is a easy lake to fish and sees little pressure. Trout up 20" are present. These fish will take most baits when they're on the bite. White, chartreuse or glow 1/4, 1/16 & 1/8th oz. tube or ball head jigs, along with gold flutter spoons are working well. Lake reports are around 12" of ice but thin spots are still around so use caution.

Wasilla Lake is an excellent lake�for fishing native Rainbow Trout. It's easy access and location make it ideal for those that may not have a lot of time. Fish near the points and rocky ledges. This is a wild lake, meaning it's not stocked by ADF&G. The only species present year round in the lake�are Rainbow Trout. White, chartreuse or glow 1/16 & 1/8th oz. tube or ball head jigs, along with gold flutter spoons are working well. Lake reports are around 12" of ice but thin spots are still around so use caution.

Open since 2007, Sportsman’s Warehouse in Wasilla, AK is near Wasilla Lake, Denali National Park, Matanuska Glacier, Little Susitna River, Palmer Hay Flats, and the Iditarod Headquarters.
