Fishing Report For Fairfield

Fair
Tue, Jan 15, 2019
Bass fishing still suffering from the huge numbers of baitfish in the lake. Jumbo minnows being the best choice, however, it is not recommended to set the hook, but to wait for the soft bite and reel slowly until you have them on. Crappie fishing very slow, bluegill bite is good.

Trolling for rainbows effective at speeds from 1.5 to 2.25 MPH. Light spoons like Needlefish or Excels, or Apex lures working best at these slower speeds. Some bass are hitting jigs at 30 to 40 feet in the creek channels, or at 50 to 80 feet off main lake points. Larger bass can be found using reaction baits like spinnerbaits or umbrella rigs.
