FISHING REPORT FOR CHICO

    The morning bite is often strong, with chironomids and leeches being effective Trolling between 20 and 30 ft. has been producing nice fish. Large brown trout are biting.

    The river has remained at a high level compared to years past so more weight has been the ticket to getting down to the strike zone. Salmon is closed this year. Striper and steelhead can still be targeted. Currently slow. Swinging dry flies for steelhead

    The lake has a lot of 14-15" Rainbows and Browns. Fish are eating midges, and Good flies are any smaller, black midge pattern like the Zebra Midge, bring a variety of sizes from #16-20. Black or olive leeches under an indicator are a staple.
