. .The reservoir is capped with ice varying between three and four inches with small open pockets where the natural springs are located. The ice is thicker and clear towards the south end near the boat ramp. The ice begins to thin towards the center and backend of the reservoir and the quality is clear with half of it being frozen snow and slush. Please exercise extreme caution as the ice conditions continue to change. Anglers are catching perch and planter trout. Try using ice fishing jigs, wax worms, perch colored tungsten jigs tipped with perch meat, ratfinkees, white tube jigs or Manic custom baits. Anglers are having the best luck fishing at 3- to nine feet deep. There will be road closures at the Mantua Reservoir Beginning Monday, December 10, 2018 for the Mantua East Spring Re-Piping Project. During this time period access to the south side of the dike road will be closed. Public Works will notify the public when access is again available to this area. The water temperature is 36 degrees and unsafe ice is beginning to form around the edges of the reservoir and in the south and north marinas. Anglers are catching 10-inch perch and a few catfish.
